MORICHES BAY RESIDENCE
The good house can also be rather large. But large houses don't have
to be large or overbearing. The owner's of this cottage in the Hamptons
wanted to double the size of their house and take advantage of it's
location, with water on three sides. Their challenge was posed by their
fondness for their existing house's small house feel.
Hardly a piece of wood was left untouched, yet the aspect that most
visitors to this house comment on is that the overall comfortable feel
was maintained. While the entire house was opened up to the landscape,
water views, and sunlight, the general layout of rooms remained and was
embellished upon. While the whole exterior was redone and unified, key
elements like eave lines and ridge heights were respected.
The owners' wishes and dreams, and excellent taste, drove this project.
Yet they still said "we never dreamed we'd get a home like this."
