TRIBECA LOFT

The process of building new structures inside existing raw space has long been the practice of many city dwellers seeking alternate spatial arrangements specific to their own unique way of living. This type of flexibility has been afforded through loft building stock that has been reclaimed by a growing population over the last three decades. No longer just artists but people as varied and diverse as stockbrokers to stay home moms share an interest in living closer to work and to the cultural amenities absent in outlying areas.

The structures inhabiting this loft were conceived as parts each with their own unique identity. Sliding doors and a retractable television cabinet activate a dramatic curved wall that separates the main living area from the more private rooms. A translucent wall separating the master suite doubles as a light fixture providing a warm, seductive glow. Composed as one meaningful whole, these inhabitations provide plenty of soul and cutting edge downtown funkiness.
